Meteorologist Terri DeBoer Aims for GOP Win in Michigan’s Third District

In Warren, Michigan, Terri DeBoer, a seasoned meteorologist and Congressional candidate from the Republican Party, expressed her readiness to reclaim Michigan’s Third Congressional District for the GOP. After her victory in the Republican primary, DeBoer emphasized that voters desire change. ‘People are ready to be represented by someone who shares the same common sense West Michigan values as they do,’ she stated, positioning herself as the best candidate to unseat Democratic Rep. Hillary Scholten.

DeBoer, 61, has had a 30-year career with several TV stations in western Michigan. She seeks to change a district that was Republican-held for decades until Scholten’s win in 2022. According to DeBoer, the Democratic Party has lost alignment with what she considers the core strengths of America.

DeBoer noted the discontent among the public, saying, ‘Thank you for being willing to step forward in a common sense way to represent our values, because quite simply, the other side is no longer representing the values of West Michigan.’

She addressed comparisons with Abdul El-Sayed, a progressive Democrat who recently triumphed in a Senate primary. DeBoer asserted that when voters understand the stakes involving America’s future and freedoms, the choice becomes clear.

DeBoer criticized what she perceives as a disconnect between Scholten’s campaign image and her Congressional voting record. Among other points, DeBoer cited Scholten’s vote against the SAVE America Act and her support in allowing transgender women in women’s sports as key discrepancies.

Positioning herself as an outsider, DeBoer believes her views align closely with constituents’ expectations. Her campaign focuses on issues like affordability related to groceries, energy, housing, and healthcare. She also prioritizes border security, healthcare choice expansion, energy support, and reducing small business regulations.

‘People are working harder, but feeling like they’re not progressing,’ DeBoer said, emphasizing the challenge of rising costs.

She insists on addressing these issues by reducing federal spending and curbing government excesses that undermine economic freedom.
