Miami Hurricanes Boost Recruiting with Five-Star Commitments

The Miami Hurricanes are capitalizing on their recent national championship appearance by strengthening their team with key acquisitions. Highlighting their offseason moves, the Hurricanes successfully recruited transfer quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate from Duke. These additions, along with a promising recruiting class, are setting Miami up for future success.

On Friday, the Hurricanes secured a major win when A’mir Sears, a five-star cornerback, committed to the team. Sears is the second-ranked player in Florida and ranked 11th nationally, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He chose Miami as they were the first to offer him a scholarship. Sears appreciated Miami’s genuine recruiting approach.

They have coaches that actually recruit. A lot of these schools are not recruiting honestly. They just send letters and generic texts. Miami has a real recruiting department. – Sears mentioned to Rivals.

Sears’ commitment enhances Miami’s recruiting standing, bringing their total of five-star recruits to five, trailing only Texas A&M. Miami, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame are the only teams featuring four or more five-star commitments for 2027.

With Sears joining, Miami has now moved ahead of Notre Dame, ranking second behind Texas A&M for the best recruiting class nationwide. Other five-star recruits in Miami’s class include cornerback Donte Wright, quarterback Israel Abrams, wide receiver Nick Lennear, and edge-rusher Jaiden Bryant.

Sears visited Coral Gables officially in March and spoke highly of his experience.
