MLB Biomechanics Lab at West Virginia University Captures Attention
The baseball world has taken notice of West Virginia University’s innovative biomechanics lab. Located in Morgantown, this facility is staffed by students and is attracting some of the sport’s finest talents.
One notable visitor is Paul Skenes, one of the youngest Cy Young Award winners in Major League Baseball, who’s experiencing the lab’s advanced technology. In the midst of the baseball season, Skenes stands before a computer screen, deep in the Appalachian Mountains.
Accompanied by four students dressed in sweatpants, Skenes shares insights with them. Afterward, he prepares for a pitching session. He positions himself, focusing on a small marker on the ground, with LED lights shining on him.
Taking a deep breath, Skenes lifts his left leg as his right arm drops. Within moments, he throws a baseball that travels over 60 feet. This showcases the precise skills honed at the lab.
