Mystery Surrounds Death of Mississippi Teen Nolan Wells
Questions continue to emerge regarding the death of Mississippi teenager Nolan Wells, who went missing during a weekend boat trip with friends. Wells vanished on the Fourth of July and was later found dead on Horn Island two days later.
The United Cajun Navy, a search and rescue group, confirmed that Wells’ body was discovered on July 6. An official from the organization, Brian Trasher, stated that a National Park Service ranger found Wells’ body.
“We were contacted via social media to assist in the search,” Trasher said. “Throughout the morning, we worked with locals for any sightings or tips.” He added that the search used both boats and an aircraft. “We were airborne for two hours before noticing activity on the beach,” Trasher explained. “We focused on areas where wind and water currents could have affected his location.”
There is speculation online about how Wells became separated from his friends. Trasher noted, “There’s no evidence he was abandoned on the island.” He believes that Wells likely drowned. “His body was found near where he disappeared,” Trasher said, emphasizing the roles of wind and water currents.
“I’m not a medical professional or investigator. I’m a search-and-rescue guy,” Trasher clarified.
Although the United Cajun Navy contributed to the search, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department leads the investigation. They continue to seek information from the public.
Wells’ family has hired attorney Ben Crump for legal representation, demanding a thorough investigation into the events surrounding Nolan’s death.
