Scott Hanson’s iconic line, “7 hours of commercial-free football,” perfectly captures NFL excitement. This weekend, we anticipate hours of uninterrupted football and our first full schedule. The Miami Dolphins face the Las Vegas Raiders, promising intriguing matchups.
Miami Dolphins: A Challenging Season Ahead
The Miami Dolphins might be contenders for the number one overall draft pick this year. Their recent history suggests struggles. Coaching changes and the loss of key players like last season’s starting quarterback and top wide receivers, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, have significantly weakened the team.

There may be glimmers of hope. De’Von Achane remains a top talent, although defenses will likely focus on stopping him. Malik Willis, now quarterback, has shown potential but is typically a backup for a reason.
Las Vegas Raiders: New Beginnings
The Raiders, after a dismal season, secured the top draft pick last year. They replaced coach Pete Carroll with Klint Kubiak and selected Fernando Mendoza first overall. Kirk Cousins, familiar with Kubiak’s system, joins the team as well.

The Raiders attempted to trade Maxx Crosby in the off-season. Although the trade was vetoed, Crosby returns to a defense with uncertainties. The Raiders’ defense ranks 24th in the league, marginally better than the Dolphins at 30th.
Game Outlook
As both teams feature new quarterbacks and questionable defenses, the game could go either way. It might be a high-scoring affair or a learning curve for the quarterbacks. There is a slight lean toward the over 40.5 total points.

Betting Take: The Raiders are favored at -3 and should cover the spread. Their potential improvement suggests a win by at least three, possibly five or more, although playoff hopes are slim.
