Norah O’Donnell will return to ‘CBS Mornings,’ joining Gayle King and Nate Burleson after Tony Dokoupil’s transition to ‘CBS Evening News.’ O’Donnell originally co-hosted the morning show from 2012 to 2019, building a notable partnership with King.
According to producer Jon Tower, O’Donnell’s homecoming promises to reignite the chemistry that made the show memorable. Tower stated that the team of Gayle, Nate, and Norah is ideal for navigating the news.
“This is a homecoming for Norah,” Tower told staff in a memo obtained by Fox News Digital. “I can’t think of a team I’d rather watch navigate the news than Gayle, Nate, and Norah.”
Some CBS viewers expressed discontent with the network following Bari Weiss’s appointment as CBS News editor-in-chief by Paramount CEO David Ellison. On Instagram, O’Donnell addressed critics directly, encouraging them to watch the show for themselves.
Weiss has faced criticism for perceived political biases, although she and Ellison aim to appeal to a broad audience. A CBS spokesperson did not comment on the matter. O’Donnell’s return includes a new role as a ’60 Minutes’ correspondent amid staff changes.
These changes occur as Ellison positions Paramount for a potential $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, which would bring CBS News and CNN under one entity. Despite legal challenges delaying the merger, Ellison intends for CNN to retain editorial independence.
