The Minnesota Lynx have consistently demonstrated skill in selecting promising players during the WNBA Draft. This year, Olivia Miles emerged as a standout pick for the team.
Selected as the No. 2 overall pick, Miles quickly established herself as a rising talent on the court. In a recent game, the Lynx triumphed over the Connecticut Sun with a 101-89 victory. Miles set a new rookie scoring record, previously held by Caitlin Clark, by scoring 21 points.
“It’s special, but it means we’re more so working well as a team. I have great teammates around me, great vets who allow me to be me out there,” Miles shared after the game. “It wouldn’t be possible without one, a coach that believes in you and then two, having teammates that have my back. So it’s really special to obviously be able to accomplish that with such a great team and on a win as well.”
This season, Miles accumulated 790 points over 40 games. Both Miles and Clark set their records in 40 games each, despite the WNBA’s schedule expansion in 2026. Clark scored 769 points with the Indiana Fever in her first season.
During the season, Miles broke several rookie records. She set a record with eight 3-pointers in a game against the Golden State Valkyries in June. Miles also became the fastest rookie to reach 350 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists within 21 games, surpassing both Clark and former Chicago Sting guard Andrea Stinson.
The Minnesota Lynx currently hold a 32-10 record, maintaining a one-game lead over the Valkyries for first place in the league.
