The Green Bay Packers started their season with a disappointing performance on Sunday, losing 39-22 to the Minnesota Vikings. This was their first game since a tough playoff defeat against the Chicago Bears earlier in January.
Despite their playoff exit, the Packers had extended contracts for head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst. During Sunday’s game, the Packers secured a 22-10 lead in the third quarter before the Vikings, led by quarterback Carson Wentz, responded with the final 29 points of the game. The loss took place in front of a crowd of 66,940 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
During an appearance on ESPN Madison, Steve “Homer” True voiced his opinion on the team’s coaching. He stated, “You can never take a game for granted with him as a coach. They should let him go tonight.”
The Packers are currently on a six-game losing streak, often losing despite holding double-digit leads. Fans are increasingly vocal about their concerns regarding the coaching staff’s decisions.
While some feel that LaFleur should be replaced, others believe that it’s too early to make such decisions. The team aims to improve, especially with the anticipated return of players like Micah Parsons and Josh Jacobs. Parsons is recovering from an ACL injury, and Jacobs may be reinstated from the commissioner exempt list.
