In a recent 60 Minutes interview, Patrick Clancy, ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, opened up about the tragic deaths of their three children. Patrick spoke with CBS News’ Ross Douthat and shared the profound impact these events have had on his life.
Clancy Reflects on Wife’s Recollection
Patrick revealed that Lindsay recalled the killings as though they were part of a dream, distant and unreal. Her memory of the tragedy was akin to recalling a dream after waking. Lindsay never sought Patrick’s forgiveness, yet he offered it, driven by a need to release inner turmoil.
Trial and Legal Proceedings
Lindsay Clancy, aged 36, faced charges of first-degree murder related to her children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. The incident occurred in January 2023 at their Duxbury, Massachusetts home. Pleading not guilty, her defense claimed postpartum psychosis had incapacitated her, making her not criminally liable.
The trial was intense, with the jury deliberating for seven days, ultimately unable to reach consensus. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in September, leaving the case unresolved.
Patrick’s Struggle with Suicidal Thoughts
Patrick candidly discussed facing suicidal thoughts following the deaths. He admitted contemplating his own mortality, uncertain he would reach his 35th birthday, feeling at peace with the possibility of not enduring the pain.
