Police Search for Gunman After Walmart Shooting in Pennsylvania

Authorities are actively searching for a gunman following the shooting of a Walmart employee in Pennsylvania. The incident occurred during an apparent argument between two men inside the store on Friday evening.

Police were called to the Walmart at 50 McDade Blvd. in Darby Township, Delaware County, shortly after 7 p.m. due to gunfire reports.

According to Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa, the investigation suggests that two men engaged in a verbal confrontation in the self-checkout area. During this exchange, one of the men reportedly drew a handgun and fired a shot.

“It looked like, from what we’re gathering with my detectives, two males get into a verbal altercation at self-checkout,” Sousa stated. “One of the males brandishes a firearm, fires a round indiscriminately and hits one of the female Walmart employees in the leg — not the subject he was arguing with.”

The female employee was taken to a hospital, though her condition has not been updated by Chief Sousa. The suspect left the scene before the police arrived and remains unaccounted for.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the shooter. Chief Sousa assured the public that there is no ongoing threat as officers have cleared the Walmart and nearby businesses.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information.
