The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is requesting assistance from the public to locate several suspects involved in an attack on a San Antonio Spurs fan. This incident took place after the New York Knicks’ defeat on Monday night.
The NYPD has released several images of the individuals believed to be responsible for the attack. The altercation occurred outside a watch party at Bryant Park for Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs on June 8, 2026, in New York City.
Due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s attendance, an NBA Finals watch party near Madison Square Garden was canceled, and security was intensified. Fans were advised to arrive two hours early.
The suspects allegedly punched and kicked the victim before removing his Spurs jersey, according to police reports. The attack occurred around 12:17 a.m. when the 39-year-old victim was making his way to his hotel. The assailants fled on foot, and the victim received medical treatment at a local hospital for his injuries. He is expected to recover.

The disturbance followed a chaotic NBA Finals viewing event in Manhattan. NYPD reported reckless behavior, with some disappointed Knicks fans climbing poles, throwing objects at officers, and removing street signs after losing to the Spurs. President Trump’s presence made the area near Madison Square Garden largely inaccessible to the public. Despite the chaos, eight arrests were made, including two for assaults on police officers, and 13 criminal court summonses were issued.
