President Trump visited western Wisconsin recently to bolster support for Republican loyalist Derrick Van Orden in the competitive Third Congressional District. This area is known for its large beef, dairy, and crop farms, which have been affected by Trump’s tariff policies and increased fuel prices due to the ongoing conflict in Iran.
During an event at a rural farm in Wisconsin, Trump engaged his supporters with a presentation reminiscent of his Oval Office appearances. He assured them of a swift resolution to the conflict with Iran and highlighted various Washington improvement projects, including mentioning the ‘reflecting pond.’ He also appreciated the physical fitness of male athletes and listened to supporters’ praise.
Addressing the crowd, Trump stated his dedication to farmers, despite personal preferences. ‘I don’t need this; I was elected. What the hell do I have to be here for?’ he remarked. ‘I’m doing this because I like the farmer,’ he added, noting he could be at the White House watching television.
With the midterm elections approaching, Trump aims to secure the farmers’ backing. Given the impact of his policies and the war-related fuel price increase, their support is crucial. Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District is tightly contested, and several Trump administration officials, including Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have visited the area to support Van Orden.
The district has shown a slight lean toward the left, which Trump acknowledged by noting it exceeds their ideal balance. This signals the closeness of the race, underscored by recent visits from administration members to reinforce efforts in support of Van Orden’s re-election campaign.
