The Baltimore Ravens achieved a thrilling victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The game concluded with a nail-biting 56-yard field goal by Tyler Loop as time expired, sealing a 34-31 win for the Ravens.
The game began with a strong start for Dallas, quickly taking a 10-0 lead. However, Baltimore responded strongly by scoring 17 unanswered points, gaining a 24-13 lead by the third quarter. The Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott, regained the lead 28-24 with a nine-yard touchdown from KaVontae Turpin. Lamar Jackson then connected with rookie Matt Hibner on a two-yard touchdown pass, putting the Ravens back in the lead. Dallas managed to tie the game late, setting the stage for Loop’s decisive field goal.
Both teams’ stars showcased their talents, providing an engaging spectacle for the Brazilian audience. Notably, Derrick Henry made history during the match. He rushed for 89 yards and scored two touchdowns in the first half. This performance allowed him to surpass Hall of Famer Marcus Allen for third place in career rushing touchdowns, reaching a total of 135, including playoff games. Only Emmitt Smith with 183 and LaDainian Tomlinson with 151 sit ahead of him. Additionally, Henry moved ahead of Eric Dickerson to claim the ninth spot on the NFL’s career rushing list.
Now in his 11th NFL season at the age of 32, Henry continues to defy expectations. Known for his powerful running style at over 250 pounds, many players would show signs of slowing down. Yet, Henry remains one of the top running backs in the league. In just three weeks, the five-time Pro Bowler has accumulated 212 rushing yards with four touchdowns, maintaining an average of 5.3 yards per carry. These achievements have him on track for his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season, potentially the eighth of his career.
Emmitt Smith holds the record for the most 1,000-yard seasons with 11. At 32, Henry still has an opportunity to match this record.
Henry’s next opportunity to enhance his impressive season performance comes in Week 4. The Ravens will face the winless Titans in Baltimore, with fans eager to see how Henry will contribute.
