Recent Developments in the Nancy Guthrie Abduction Case
An Arizona man, Luke Daley, detained previously but released without charges concerning Nancy Guthrie’s unsolved abduction, has been arrested again on different charges. A spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Daley, 37, was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on September 30, 2026. This arrest is unrelated to the Guthrie case.
Daley has a history of criminal activity, including past felony convictions. On February 13, police apprehended him in a Culver’s parking lot and conducted a raid on his mother’s residence as part of the probe into Guthrie’s disappearance from her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills, roughly two miles away.
“Mr. Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping,” stated Chris Scileppi, Daley’s attorney, following his release. The Tucson community, along with Mr. Daley and his family, hopes for Nancy’s safe return.
Currently, no suspects have been publicly identified in Guthrie’s case. Her whereabouts remain unknown. Surveillance footage from her Nest doorbell showed a masked individual at her doorstep around the time of her abduction, yet this person remains at large.
Meanwhile, Daley faces pending drug and firearm charges, and prosecutors are seeking to revoke his probation tied to other drug and weapon violations. His arrest was linked to a search warrant executed near Guthrie’s residence.
The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s abduction continues intensely. The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-host of “Today,” has been missing for over eight months. The FBI released images from her doorbell camera, although it is unclear if they depict the same individual.
Her family received unsettling notes from alleged kidnappers—one demanding ransom, the other claiming she had died unexpectedly. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the authenticity of these notes.
Anyone with information about Guthrie’s case is encouraged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or Tucson’s Crime Stoppers at 520-88-CRIME. A substantial reward of over $1.2 million remains available for information leading to her whereabouts.
