Twenty-two years ago, I made a significant career decision that reshaped my life. Initially, I worked with The Wall Street Journal and CNBC, but joining Fox News proved to be transformative. The positive impact of this move is beyond what words can express, and I am grateful for the intuition that led me here.
On my first day, Jeff Hark, who managed the scheduling of reporters and anchors, inquired about my family. With three young children at home, he wanted to assure me that Fox understood the challenges young professionals face while raising a family. At first, I felt defensive, assuring him that I could manage without needing time off. However, I soon realized his sincerity. This thoughtful approach from the company motivated me to work even harder, knowing they supported their team members.
Fox provided an environment that fostered personal and professional growth. The atmosphere was dynamic, and the company’s growth was impressive. During my first year, I eagerly joined the election team for the 2004 presidential race. I was jokingly willing to report on traffic affected by the DNC, demonstrating my eagerness to be involved in major events.
Soon, I was reporting from the Democratic convention floor alongside experienced correspondents like Carl Cameron and Major Garrett. Though I felt both excited and nervous, I successfully navigated those early challenges, marking the start of two decades covering elections for Fox News.
My career at Fox News allowed me to travel globally, covering prominent figures and significant events. Walking the beaches of Normandy with war heroes and sharing their stories from various conflicts has been deeply rewarding. Fox News fosters a unique respect for veterans and their stories.
I am thankful for the camaraderie within the Fox family, including colleagues like Lachlan, Suzanne, and Jay. We share a commitment to our country, striving to uphold its values and keeping those in power accountable. We aim for its continued success.
Happy 30th birthday to Fox.
