A tragic event unfolded in Houston, Texas, when a father was killed in a carjacking incident on Saturday afternoon. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victim, 56-year-old Louis Erebia, lost his life while attempting to recover his stolen vehicle. A suspect, identified as London Hogan Sr., who is a repeat offender on probation, has been charged with Erebia’s murder.
According to a news release, Erebia tracked the stolen car and confronted Hogan Sr., who allegedly opened fire, resulting in Erebia’s death. The shooting occurred while Erebia’s son was refueling a Chevrolet Silverado when Hogan reportedly took the vehicle at gunpoint. Using GPS, Erebia and a friend located the pickup truck, leading to the confrontation.
The incident, captured on video at a Houston gas station, ended with Erebia’s car colliding with the stolen Silverado, leaving it disabled. During the altercation, Hogan is accused of shooting Erebia and another man, who is expected to survive. Hogan now faces charges that include murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Hogan’s criminal record reveals a history of offenses, including an incident in November 2023, where he was charged with assault involving a household member. Despite receiving deferred adjudication and five years of community supervision, his previous charges, such as possession of a weapon and unauthorized vehicle use in 2020, were dismissed. Earlier convictions for controlled substance possession date back to 2015 and 2016.
In a subsequent court hearing, the judge reiterated Hogan’s probation status. His deferred adjudication for assault was mentioned, alongside the murder charge categorized as an SB9 offense.
A tribute from relative Amber Burrough on Facebook described Erebia as a selfless hero, protective and devoted to helping others. Burrough stated, “Louis died doing exactly what he did every day of his life—protecting others.” His legacy as a community pillar and family backbone is remembered fondly by those he touched.
