A recent torrent of water has devastated Himalayan valleys, claiming the lives of hundreds. Experts predict the death toll will increase significantly. The search and rescue teams are encountering numerous obstacles, such as muddy terrain, as they strive to find survivors in areas near the Nepal-Tibet border.
Dense mud has buried many valley communities in the Himalayan region, just one day after the severe flash flooding. Rescuers are finding it difficult to reach those trapped beneath the mud. Foreign correspondent Janis Mackey Frayer reports from Nepal, highlighting the ongoing struggles.
The situation is further complicated by multiple factors impacting rescue and relief operations in the affected regions along the Nepal-China border. These challenges have considerably slowed the rescue efforts in the valleys and villages devastated by the natural disaster.
