Reserve Texas Officer Arrested in Mexico for Multiple Homicides

The shooting occurred at a residence in Saltillo, the capital of Coahuila, amid a dispute concerning Eberle’s son. Reports suggest Eberle went to the home to gain custody of the child. An argument reportedly ensued, leading Eberle to allegedly open fire, claiming the lives of three individuals and critically injuring his child’s mother.

The victims, identified by La Razon de Mexico, include Ana Laura de León Morín, 44, Laura Jaquelín Morín de León, 22, and Emanuel Montero Gómez, 44. The injured woman is Eberle’s former partner, the 26-year-old mother of his son. Following a tragic outcome, authorities issued a warrant for Eberle’s arrest, charging him with femicide and aggravated homicide. The Coahuila Attorney General’s Office confirmed the warrant in a social media post prior to his arrest.

Arrest Details

Authorities tracked Eberle as he approached the U.S.-Mexico border. He was detained at International Bridge II, which links Piedras Negras, Mexico, with Eagle Pass, Texas. Law enforcement apprehended him on the night of August 4 before he could cross the border. Subsequently, they transported him to the Saltillo Men’s Penitentiary at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday, where he remains in custody during the investigation.

The child’s safety was addressed by placing him under PRONNIF, Mexico’s child protection agency. Coahuila Attorney General Federico Fernández reported that Chad N was presented to judicial authorities following the execution of the arrest warrant. Mexican authorities ensured ongoing communication with the U.S. Consulate.

Background on Chad Eberle

Eberle has a notable history in Texas law enforcement over the past decade. He secured a Texas peace officer license in January 2017, earning basic, intermediate, and advanced certifications. TCOLE records also cite his military service, highlighted by KTXS.

Coleman Today released a statement from the City of Santa Anna acknowledging the incident. The statement confirmed Eberle was an unpaid Reserve Police Officer, granted a personal leave of absence until December. Communications are ongoing with the US Consulate in Mexico and TCOLE in Texas. The city has refrained from further comment due to the active investigation.
