Richard Gere Celebrates 77th Birthday

Richard Gere marked his 77th birthday with his wife Alejandra Silva and their son. Silva, aged 43, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing love and joy on her husband’s special day. The post included an image of the couple embracing.

Another picture showed their son, James Gere, joining the family hug. A separate image captured Silva with their pet dogs. Gere and Silva began their romantic journey in 2014, reconnecting after initially meeting through family friends. They married in 2018 and have two sons, Alexander and James. Their family relocated to Spain, intending to be nearer to Silva’s heritage.

In 2025, Silva discussed their decision with the Daily Mail, explaining plans to balance time between Spain and the United States. Summer visits to the U.S. are planned due to their sons attending summer camps there. She expressed nostalgia for family, contrasting it with her fondness for the U.S.

Gere elaborated on their move to Spain, speaking to Vanity Fair Spain in 2024. He viewed the relocation as an exhilarating venture, having never resided outside the U.S. full-time before. For their children, he hoped the experience of living abroad would be enriching.

Gere spoke about Spain’s appeal, noting Silva’s generosity in spending six years in the U.S. He expressed eagerness to reciprocate by embracing Spanish culture. Praising Spain’s lifestyle, food, and people, Gere looked forward to the transition.

Previously, Gere shared with Fox News Digital sentiments about his long tenure in New York City, dating back to his twenties. He described New York as ingrained in his identity, but also highlighted appreciation for Spain, offering Silva the chance to reunite with her roots and family.
