Riders Evacuated After Green Line Train Wheels Misaligned
Riders were evacuated from a Green Line train heading to Forest Park on Saturday afternoon due to misaligned wheels. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) reported that the train proceeded through a track switch that hadn’t completed proper alignment. This caused the front and rear train wheels to land on separate track segments.
According to the CTA, the incident was not a derailment as all train wheels remained on the tracks. Buses were used to transport passengers along the affected areas while crews worked to resume normal operations on the Green Line.
The Oak Park Fire Department was involved to ensure safe evacuation procedures. However, the CTA did not provide details on any train delays or station closures related to the event. The Village of Oak Park did not respond to requests for comment.
