Rosie O’Donnell Attributes Fame Surge to Trump

Rosie O’Donnell acknowledges President Donald Trump for her renewed fame. In a recent discussion with Amy Poehler on “Good Hang,” O’Donnell remarked on her resurgence in the public eye. “I feel like recently I’m re-famous. That’s what I feel. I told my kids, well kids, hold on ’cause mommy’s re-famous.” She humorously credits Trump, calling him “Mango Mussolini,” for unintentionally boosting her career. O’Donnell stated, “If he knew how much he was helping my career and my life, he would stop mentioning me.”

For years, O’Donnell and Trump have exchanged harsh words. After his 2024 win over Kamala Harris, O’Donnell relocated to Ireland.

O’Donnell continues to make media appearances. She is set to guest host “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for a week starting next month. This comes after an interaction where Trump labeled her as “obsessed” in a Truth Social post.

The comedian shared in a Variety interview her view that the ongoing feud might be fueled by their shared New York roots. Both were born and raised in the state. O’Donnell said, “People sometimes say we sound alike, which is probably the worst thing that you can say to me.”

But I think I’m one of those tough girls from elementary school and junior high that said to him, ‘Shut the hell up! You’re not playing with us. Get out of here, you freakin’ idiot!’

She suspects that she triggers Trump, likening it to a PTSD response rooted in his childhood experiences. During a podcast with Sophia Bush, O’Donnell echoed this sentiment, saying, “He grew up with girls like me – tough, probably gay Irish girls who didn’t take s— from any wannabe rich kid.”

Additionally, O’Donnell hinted at a return to ABC’s “The View” for a 30th anniversary episode, despite producer Brian Teta’s statement on X that no official invites have been issued. He said plans are underway for the show’s milestone but refuted any claims of invitations being sent.
