The Buffalo Bills recently unveiled their new Highmark Stadium to fans, but the initial reception wasn’t entirely positive. Despite this, former Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has a different perspective.
The Bills played a preseason game against the Carolina Panthers and hosted open practices at their new $2.2 billion stadium. While fans usually anticipate new venues, social media had its share of critics. Posts highlighted issues like obstructed views and poor sightlines, along with early player critiques of the grass field’s condition.
In a conversation with Fox News Digital, Fitzpatrick shared that friends who used his season tickets during the first preseason game had nothing but praise for the stadium. He emphasized the influence of personal opinions. “Everybody has their opinions,” he said. “I rely on the people I know and love.” His neighbors, who attended the games, reported a positive experience, noting factors such as parking, food, and the stadium’s design as remarkable.
A key point of contention is the new stadium’s seating. The Highmark Stadium now holds 10,000 fewer seats than its predecessor. Fitzpatrick argues this could be beneficial for the team. “It’s 60,000 people, but the environment will feel louder,” he explained. “The structure ensures the noise reverberates well.” He looks forward to experiencing the stadium’s energy during their season opener against Detroit.
Fitzpatrick, along with the Prime Video “Thursday Night Football” crew, is due to visit Buffalo on September 17 for the Bills’ home opener. This will allow him to finally witness the completed venue firsthand.
The field conditions have drawn mixed opinions. An unnamed Bills player described the field as subpar to The Athletic, while linebacker Dorian Williams offered a more positive take, noting, “The grass looked good. It was cool.”
Fitzpatrick’s connection with the men’s activewear brand VRST, from DICK’S Sporting Goods, remains strong. He values the brand for its performance and style, which aligns with his hectic lifestyle. “It captures my vibe,” he said, emphasizing comfort and aesthetic as crucial factors for his partnership. Fitzpatrick’s affinity for vibrant designs and patterns reflects in the VRST offerings, keeping him stylish and comfortable, whether on a plane or at a soccer practice.
His endorsement of VRST is a testament to its versatility. “You can wear it in multiple situations,” Fitzpatrick noted, adding that he frequently receives compliments on his attire.
