Safety Concerns Delay Jay-Z Concert at Yankee Stadium

Hundreds of Jay-Z concert ticket holders found themselves outside Yankee Stadium for hours on Sunday night. The performance was delayed due to safety concerns.

When Jay-Z finally took the stage after midnight, he offered an apology to fans. He cited crowd safety issues as the reason for the delay. Some concertgoers attempted to rush the stadium gates.

Jay-Z mentioned, “There’s 10,000 people outside. I don’t want to start the music and people get trampled,” according to social media videos.

In a joint statement, the organizations involved—Yankees, Roc Nation, and Live Nation—explained the situation. They reported that large groups without tickets tried to enter the stadium and even breached security at various entrances.

The statement continued, “As a result, gates at all entrances of the Stadium were closed for an extended period of time. With the thoughtful guidance of the NYPD, gates were reopened cautiously and carefully to ensure the safety of those inside and outside.”

The New York Police Department referenced the joint statement when asked for more information on the incident.
