Sean Payton to Present Drew Brees at Hall of Fame Induction

Sean Payton, former coach of the New Orleans Saints, remains deeply connected to the team despite his current position with the Denver Broncos. A call from an old friend in New Orleans recently brought him to tears.

Drew Brees, former quarterback for the Saints, reached out to Payton to ask if he would present him at the Hall of Fame induction in Canton, Ohio. The request moved Payton emotionally.

Honest to God, I can’t believe you just did that. Payton said, visibly emotional. Yeah, absolutely man.

Brees responded with warmth, I can’t wait. I love you, expressing his gratitude.

Reflecting on the moment, Payton said, It was just a lot—15 years together…. I’m proud that it ended the way he wanted it to. I’m excited for him. As a coach, it’s an honor to be asked.

The duo, who spent 15 years working together, achieved a Super Bowl victory in 2010 and were consistent contenders in the NFC. Brees retired in 2020 with notable achievements, ranking second in all-time passing yards, completions, and touchdowns.

Brees will join other football legends such as Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly, Adam Vinatieri, and Roger Craig in the Class of 2026 Hall of Fame.
