Search for Inmates Escaped from Alabama Correctional Center

On May 30, 2026, a search began for four inmates who escaped from a correctional facility in central Alabama, according to authorities. The escape occurred at the Perry County Correctional PREP Center located in Uniontown, Alabama. Law enforcement agencies received notifications about the escape around 1 a.m. local time on Saturday.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office identified the fugitives as Marquavious Billingsley, Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., and Kevin Gunn. Details regarding their escape were not immediately available. However, the authorities have released images of the men in an effort to assist in their capture. The inmates have connections to Dallas County, Alabama, as they were housed at the PREP Center under an agreement with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

PREP, which stands for Parole and Probation Reentry Education and Employment Program Center, provides a platform for inmates to reintegrate into society. The four escapees were in custody for diverse charges, including murder, first-degree robbery, breaking and entering vehicles, first-degree escape, first-degree assault, and promoting prison contraband.

The sheriff’s office has urged the public to report any information regarding the fugitives’ whereabouts by calling 911. They emphasize the importance of not approaching or attempting to detain the individuals. Sheriff Roy Fikes highlighted that the safety of Perry County residents remains their primary concern. Deputies, along with other assisting agencies, are actively involved in locating and capturing the escapees. An ongoing investigation is also in place to understand the circumstances of their escape.
