Senator Urges DOJ to Investigate Abortion Pill Group

A Republican senator is raising concerns about a group allegedly distributing abortion pills in states where they are banned. According to a criminal referral obtained by Fox News Digital, the senator claims this group serves as a hub for such activities.

Senator Josh Hawley, in a letter addressed to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, has requested the Justice Department to initiate an investigation into Plan C. He accuses the group of connecting women with suppliers for abortion pills, violating state laws by sending these pills into restricted areas.

“Plan C is at the heart of this operation,” Hawley stated. He referred to the group as a ‘left-wing dark-money operation’ that facilitates the distribution of abortion medications into states with bans. He emphasized the need for a federal criminal investigation.

“At the center of the effort is an entity called Plan C,” Hawley explained, describing their actions as necessitating legal scrutiny.

Senator Hawley points out that Plan C guides women in states such as Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas to international clinics willing to send abortion pills to the U.S., bypassing local laws. Additionally, the group reportedly directs users to online vendors selling these drugs without the required prescriptions or medical consultations. Plan C’s website itself warns that the drugs offered by some of these vendors are not inspected by U.S. authorities.

An attempt to contact Plan C by Fox News Digital for comments was made. Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed these developments at a news conference recently.

Hawley also highlighted that Plan C advises users on methods to conceal their “digital footprint,” suggesting privacy-centric tools like virtual private networks and encrypted email services. The website of Plan C warns users about the potential legal risks linked with their services, emphasizing personal responsibility in assessing the level of legal exposure.

The senator noted that the organization directs women to providers willing to prescribe abortion pills beyond the FDA’s approved usage guidelines and state-set limits.

In his letter, Hawley argues that these actions might breach federal laws related to prescription drugs and unapproved drug importation. He urges the Department to investigate Plan C’s ties to co-conspirator manufacturers and suppliers, including overseas clinics and online vendors.
