Fox News recently featured an insightful conversation with Shania Twain, who shared her experiences and struggles with body image and aging. Twain, known for her music career spanning decades, confessed to engaging in dangerous habits to maintain a thin physique.
In an honest interview, she revealed, “I was malnourished… to be thinner.” The singer’s challenges grew in 2019 when menopause brought uncontrollable changes. Referring to this period, Twain stated, “In menopause, you lose control of your body.” She described the experience as a crisis of confidence, leading to a reluctance to look at her reflection.
Twain recalled her extreme diet and exercise practices, cutting out sugar and fats while overworking her body. “I was doing very unhealthy things,” she admitted. This realization eventually led her to self-acceptance.
Nowadays, Twain embraces her reflection, stating, “Now I’m like, bring on the mirrors.” She reflects on menopause positively, having learned to accept aspects of her appearance beyond control.
Twain’s breakthrough in country music with her 1995 album “The Woman in Me” marked the beginning of her global fame. However, she struggled with body image from a young age, even avoiding beaches. Her shyness persisted until her career-defining hit, “You’re Still the One,” when she gradually began to break free from self-imposed constraints.
Twain, now 60, continues to influence both country and pop music. With over 100 million records sold, she remains a significant figure in the industry. Twain appreciates the process of exploring new interests and refuses to slow down.
