Sheriff Shares Update on Missing Tucson Woman and Ransom Notes
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos discussed the release of two ransom notes linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, urging the public to recognize distinct language or phrasing.
Nancy Guthrie, missing for six months, has prompted extensive investigations involving numerous tips and videos. Despite the ambiguity of whether the notes have the same author, the unique style might spark recognition.
“There are a number of pieces of information in these notes that just might jar someone to say, ‘You know, I’ve heard that,’ or the wording, the style of the writing,” Nanos stated in a video interview.
The case continues to draw attention due to Nancy’s link to Savannah Guthrie, co-host of “Today.” Her children, alongside law enforcement, call for public assistance to identify the kidnappers, releasing images and information, including an Instagram photo shared on August 1, 2026.
In the ongoing investigation, the sheriff mentions the considerable effort and resources directed at following up on numerous leads.
“It’s very active,” Nanos commented. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us.”
