A recent report anticipates a notable decline in the number of international students in the United States. The forecast, released this week, indicates that U.S. colleges and universities may see a drop of approximately 111,000 foreign students this fall. This would represent a 9.5% decrease in international enrollment.
The reduction in student numbers can be partly attributed to intensified restrictions on international visas under the Trump administration. These measures have likely influenced the decision of many prospective students to reconsider their plans to study in the U.S.
This data comes from research collaboratively conducted by NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the research firm JB International. Their findings highlight the potential challenges that U.S. higher education institutions may face due to reduced international enrollment.
