Socialist Candidate’s Defeat Sparks Tensions within Democratic Party

Far-left content creator Hasan Piker issued a warning on Tuesday following the defeat of Wisconsin State Representative Francesca Hong in the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Hong lost to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, and Piker suggests the loss signals increased efforts by Democratic establishment figures to block progressive candidates.

Piker, who campaigned with Hong alongside Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., characterized the loss as a lesson for socialists. He emphasized that while the progressive movement is no longer underestimated, it continues to face challenges from within the party.

The establishment will not underestimate us. It will continue to undermine us, but they will not underestimate us. So, the knives will be out.

Republican National Committee spokesperson Natalie Baldassarre called on Democrats to distance themselves from Hasan Piker, citing his controversial history. She criticized Democrats for their continued association with him.

The Wisconsin primary highlighted internal party divisions, pitting the socialist left against a more traditional coalition. Hong, supported by Democratic Socialists of America members like Reps. Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna, faced Crowley, who gained endorsements from Wisconsin’s Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and several labor unions.

Despite Crowley’s victory, Piker noted that the outcome wasn’t entirely negative and expressed optimism that Crowley could defeat Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in the upcoming election.

The primary results were delayed due to a human error in Milwaukee’s election process, which resulted in audit logs being delivered instead of election results. This delayed the official announcement until early Wednesday.

Fox News reached out to Hong, Crowley, and the Democratic National Committee for comments but received none at the time of reporting.
