Spencer Pratt claims to have audio recordings that might compel either Mayor Karen Bass or City Councilmember Nithya Raman to resign. This claim intensifies his ongoing conflict with Los Angeles political figures after his loss in the city’s mayoral primary.
In a Friday video posted on social media, the former reality television star expressed his intention to release a recording of either Bass or Raman, depicting them in a way that could lead to their resignation. Pratt revealed no details about the recordings or evidence for his allegations.
“I was saving it for the general election. Choose your demon, certify your choice, and then you’ll see the recording,” Pratt stated.
Raising a question to both leaders, Pratt asked if they believe an employee could possess a recording that would force their resignation. Newsweek reached out to Raman and Bass’s offices for comments via email on Saturday, outside of working hours.
Pratt Declares ‘War’ on Political Rivals
Pratt ran as an independent candidate and became an unexpected figure in the mayoral election. However, he lost in the June 2 primary, where the top two candidates moved forward to the general election. Bass, the Democratic incumbent, secured her position early with 34.3% of the votes. Raman edged into the second spot with 29%, while Pratt received 25.5%.
In a social media video, Pratt declared an end to campaign restrictions and emphasized launching a ‘war’ on his political adversaries. He stated his intention to make Democratic candidates worry about potential legal actions.
Pratt’s Campaign Against Bass and Raman
Pratt transformed the Los Angeles mayoral race into a widely watched spectacle. He entered the contest following the loss of his home in the 2025 wildfires, branding himself as an outsider against what he called a failed City Hall establishment.
Pratt leveraged social media and viral content to draw national attention, even receiving an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. His campaign addressed issues like homelessness, crime, public safety, and the city’s wildfire recovery, criticizing local leaders’ perceived failings.
Most of Pratt’s criticism targeted Bass, blaming her for the city’s response to the fires and general unrest. His campaign slogan, “Enough is enough,” resonated with voters disillusioned by the current leadership.
Meanwhile, Raman positioned herself as a progressive contender, focusing on housing affordability, homelessness reform, and city services improvements. She challenged City Hall’s perceived alliances with powerful interests, drawing a contrast to Bass’s record.
Pratt’s Continued Political Ambitions
Despite his defeat, Pratt continues his political pursuit. “Do you think you can get rid of me that easily?” he asked in Friday’s video.
Pratt emphasized that his motives were not about gaining political power but exposing corruption. He alluded to worsening conditions in the city and criticized the re-election of leaders he perceives as ineffective.
“My goal hasn’t changed,” Pratt affirmed, “I’ve been focused on stopping these commie animals, and I will stop them.”
