Straus Family Creamery Recalls Organic Ice Cream Due to Metal Fragment Concerns
Straus Family Creamery has initiated a voluntary recall of several organic ice cream flavors across 17 states. The recall was announced following concerns about potential metal fragments in the products. This information was released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday.
No injuries linked to the ice cream have been reported, according to the FDA. The recalled products include items sold in various states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. These products were available in stores starting May 4.
The affected ice cream can be identified by their best-by dates, which are printed on the bottom of the containers. Specific items under recall are:
- Vanilla bean pints with best-by dates of Dec. 23 and 28, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10030-6.
- Strawberry pints with a best-by date of Dec. 25, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10095-5.
- Strawberry quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 24, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10097-9.
- Cookie dough pints with a best-by date of Dec. 26, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10104-4.
- Dutch chocolate quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 27, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10012-2.
- Mint chip quarts with a best-by date of Dec. 30, 2026, manufacturing code 7-84830-10050-4.
Straus Family Creamery is collaborating with retailers to ensure that these products are pulled from shelves. Consumers are advised to dispose of any affected containers they have purchased. Although refunds are not offered, Straus is providing vouchers for customers to replace the affected ice cream with new cartons. Information regarding these vouchers is accessible on the company’s website.
Straus emphasized that ensuring food safety and maintaining product quality are their top priorities, as noted on their recall page.
