The U.S. Marshals Service reported the successful recovery of numerous missing and endangered children in Ohio, marking the largest operation of its kind in the state’s history. The mission, known as Operation Meridian, was conducted throughout August in collaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement entities. A total of 79 children, aged between 6 and 17, were found across the state, according to a news release on Tuesday.
Operation Meridian concentrated on cases involving children reported missing under circumstances like suspected sex trafficking, various forms of abuse—physical, emotional—neglect, and other endangerment scenarios. The Marshals Service emphasized the extensive coordination with local police departments, state agencies, and federal collaborators. During the operation, children were located even in distant places such as Georgia.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott expressed pride in all involved, stating, “I am very proud of our dedicated law enforcement, community, and media partners who worked tirelessly to bring our missing and most vulnerable children to safety. Every recovered child represents a life pulled back from danger.”
The story is developing, and further updates are expected.
