The Supreme Court is nearing the end of its term and plans to release over a dozen opinions in the next two weeks. These decisions will include significant cases linked to the policies of President Trump intended to expand presidential authority and alter the federal bureaucracy.
Before taking a summer break, the justices will address cases that test the administration’s efforts to change federal systems and increase executive power. The outcomes will also determine the future of President Trump’s efforts to end the birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants born in the U.S. and to remove Lisa D. Cook from the Federal Reserve.
Earlier rulings in February saw Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and other justices appointed by Trump joining Democratic-appointed justices in striking down the president’s extensive tariffs on imports from major trade partners. Trump criticized this ruling and the justices involved.
Trump has been vocal about the birthright citizenship case, attending oral arguments in an unprecedented move for a sitting president. He expressed his discontent with the justices’ questions, labeling them as biased.
