Sweltering Heat and Humidity to Affect Northeast US
The Northeast will experience hot and humid weather conditions on Thursday and Friday. This weather could lead to severe storms.
A recent spell of hot weather in the central US is migrating east. This shift could make a pleasantly cool week in the East Coast unbearable.
According to Bryan Ramsey from the National Weather Service, temperatures won’t reach 100 degrees but will remain unpleasant. He described the expected conditions as uncomfortable and ‘sultry’. The cause is a thick air mass following a warm front, which will leave people sticky and sweaty.
This week marks the first true warm spell of the year, with a climate setup similar to a warm April stretch. However, this time, tropical moisture will heighten discomfort.
Expect temperatures to range between 90 and 95 degrees. Some areas may near record highs, according to Bob Oravec from the Weather Prediction Center.
While it’s not extremely hot, caution is recommended due to the heat’s intensity.
