Renowned actor Sylvester Stallone reflected on the challenges of starting a career in today’s Hollywood during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith. Stallone participated in a conversation series at 92NY, where he shared insights on his career and the evolving entertainment industry.
Stallone expressed concerns about thriving in today’s Hollywood, highlighting a shift in mindset among actors and filmmakers. He believes he might struggle to succeed under current conditions, due to differences in how actors appear and act, as well as changes in storytelling themes.
Sylvester Stallone mentioned that he believes he would be ‘in trouble’ if he were to launch a career today. He compared present-day Hollywood to the era of iconic films like ‘The Godfather,’ suggesting difficulties in casting similar projects today.
Further reflecting on his past, Stallone humorously noted alternative career paths he might have pursued had ‘Rocky’ not been successful. He joked about possibly serving a prison sentence or working in husbandry due to his close affinity with animals.
‘Rocky’ became a remarkable success after its 1976 release, amassing over $225 million worldwide. Stallone’s contributions as a writer and actor earned him Oscar nominations, catapulting him to fame.
Stallone spoke of living by ‘Murphy’s Law,’ applying its principle of expecting anything to go wrong actively to ensure preparedness. While staying at hotels with his wife, Jennifer Flavin, he checks the distance to the nearest fire escape as a safety measure.
Stallone met Flavin in 1988, and they married in 1997. They share three daughters—Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet. Despite filing for divorce in 2022, the couple reconciled a month later.
Preparing to share more of his personal journey, Stallone is set to release his memoir, ‘The Steps,’ which promises insights into his life and career. Reflecting on his journey, Stallone values the initial step when committing to life’s endeavors.
‘The Steps: A Memoir’ is scheduled for release on September 29.
