In a strategic move inspired by Ukraine, Taiwan is enhancing its defense mechanisms. The island, claimed by Beijing, is focusing on manufacturing drones independently, consciously avoiding Chinese components in the process.
During a recent military drill held outside a naval base in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, soldiers showcased the use of these drones. The exercise, captured in January and shared by Bloomberg, highlighted Taiwan’s growing military capabilities.
Observers note that Taiwan, a close ally of the United States, is learning from Ukraine’s efforts to resist a more powerful adversary. The initiative marks a significant step in Taiwan’s defense strategy, reflecting a broader desire for self-reliance amidst regional tensions.
