Taylor Swift’s latest country track, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” has shattered a significant record on Spotify. The streaming platform announced on June 5 that this song became the most-streamed country track in a single day by a female artist.
This new song will appear in Pixar’s upcoming film, “Toy Story 5,” set to hit theaters on June 19. In tandem with the song’s release, Swift shared a nostalgic video on Instagram. In the clip, she wore a cowgirl outfit as her new track played in the background.
Swift commented on Instagram, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time.” She expressed gratitude to “Toy Story 5” director Andrew Stanton for envisioning her in this role. She also thanked composer Randy Newman for his contributions over the years. The song was co-written with Jack Antonoff, a long-time collaborator.
Swift also shared her admiration for the “Toy Story” series. She mentioned her childhood dream of writing for its characters and described falling in love with “Toy Story 5” upon viewing an early screening. “I wrote this song as soon as I got home,” she shared.
Now fans can enjoy “I Knew It, I Knew You” on all major streaming services.
