The Tennessee Titans have released quarterback Will Levis, aiming for a fresh start before the NFL regular season. This decision follows a challenging period in Levis’s career.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Titans selected Levis in the second round. He appeared and started in 21 games for the team. However, the Titans picked Cam Ward with the No. 1 draft choice in 2025. Reports indicate Levis requested to be waived, which occurred this past Sunday. He’s expected to clear waivers and enter free agency in the coming days.
Titans waiving QB Will Levis, as Tom Pelissero said,ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.I’m told Levis wanted out. Gets the fresh start he coveted.
During his tenure with the Titans, Levis held a 5-16 record as a starter. He amassed 3,899 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Despite his struggles, Levis expressed growth since joining the NFL. He conveyed confidence and a focus on self-improvement over seeking external validation.
“I feel like I worked a lot for others peoples’ approval at the beginning of my career whereas I am just trying to be the best version of me at this point,” Levis commented. “And I have more confidence than I’ve ever had because of that. I don’t need to go out there and win X amount of games to feel the confidence; I have the confidence right now.”
With his release from Tennessee, Levis has the opportunity to prove his skills to another team. He will need to climb the ranks wherever he lands.
Malik Willis, a former Titans third-round pick in 2022, found success elsewhere. After backing up for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 and 2025, Willis became the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. Levis might hope for a similar career revival.
