President Donald Trump has released a video, seemingly generated by AI, which depicts explosions on Iran’s Kharg Island. Despite this, Iranian authorities have not confirmed any U.S. military strikes targeting the island over the weekend.
Trump shared the video on his Truth Social platform, stating: “Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!!”. Kharg Island, positioned just 15 miles from the Iranian mainland, plays a critical role in Iran’s economy by handling 90 percent of Tehran’s oil exports.
On Sunday, the U.S. and Tehran engaged in mutual strikes, marking the first clash since late July. The U.S. aims to compel Iran into a negotiated deal through intensifying economic pressures and sanctions.
Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, dismissed Trump’s post as “laughable” and assured Iranian media that operations on Kharg Island remain unchanged and normal.
U.S. Central Command, in charge of American forces in the Middle East, did not mention any attacks on Kharg Island. It clarified that “limited, precise action” was taken against Iranian minelaying activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, confirmed spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins.
The Iranian military claims to have retaliated with ballistic missile attacks on two Jordanian air bases, reportedly causing “heavy damage.” Additionally, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported stopping a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz after it was allegedly hit by two naval mines.
This story is developing. More information will be provided as updates become available.
