Testimony in Charlie Kirk’s Assassination Case Scheduled for Court

In Provo, Utah, the preliminary hearing related to the case of Tyler Robinson, accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk, is set to feature video testimony from Lance Twiggs. Twiggs, previously involved with Robinson, will have his testimony played on Thursday.

Legal objections delayed the presentation of the video testimony initially planned for Wednesday. Judge Tony Graf Jr. requested redactions, leading to its postponement to ensure compliance with the court’s orders. Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, was visibly emotional during these developments. She urged the family attorney, Jeff Neiman, to call for the unredacted video to be shown publicly, stating such disclosure would maintain transparency.

Neiman expressed to the court the Kirk family’s belief that full disclosure without redactions is necessary to uphold public trust in the judicial system. He emphasized the court’s ability to safeguard a fair trial.

Judge Graf, addressing concerns from the defense, agreed to redact approximately 16 minutes from the 37-minute video. Defense attorney Richard Novak raised constitutional concerns about airing potential confessions before trial. The video contains discussions on alleged communications between Robinson and Twiggs, described by the defense as not constituting a confession.

Robinson exhibited signs of nervousness during the hearing, particularly when Twiggs was mentioned. Evidence publicly available includes alleged texts implicating Robinson in the shooting, referring to his location in Orem at the time. These texts are slated to be redacted, but the judge will consider them in his ruling on probable cause.

The hearing is scheduled to conclude by Friday at 5 p.m. Erika and Kathy Kirk shared a tearful moment at the session’s end, highlighting the emotional nature of the proceedings.
