Texas Endures Severe Flooding, Rescues Multiple Residents

Central Texas is experiencing significant flash flooding due to torrential rain. Authorities have been actively involved in rescuing dozens trapped by rising waters. A recent video shows Texas Game Wardens wading through waist-deep water, rescuing a family with a young child. Officials report that over 40 people have been saved from homes, submerged vehicles, and cars swept off roadways.

Governor Greg Abbott announced that the floods have claimed at least one life. Residents near the Leona River in Uvalde were instructed to evacuate to higher ground due to a threat of a 20-foot water surge.

Massive Rainfall Hits Texas Communities

More than a foot of rain has fallen since Monday. Some areas experienced rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour, inundating roads and covering cars. Ryan Whaley from Boerne described the rapid flooding, recounting how game wardens deployed boats to navigate the rising waters.

In Boerne, the fire department was seen rescuing individuals from floodwaters. Typically ankle-deep, the Medina River rose significantly due to rainfall, affecting surrounding creeks and springs. Deer were witnessed being carried down flooded streams.

Chris Shadrock, Boerne’s communications director, expressed concerns over the situation. “We are seeing flood conditions not experienced since 2015,” he stated in a social media video.

Severe Weather System Impacts Texas

The storm system also generated a tornado near San Antonio. This tornado caused transformers to spark near a major highway and unleashed winds up to 100 mph. These winds damaged businesses and tore the roof off an apartment building.
