Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 52, was driving to work in Houston on July 7 when ICE agents chased his van. The pursuit ended with agents opening fire, leading to his death. Araujo was not the target of the operation. His family learned of his death from social media.

“Part of his dream was to build a house for himself and his family… After it was built, you could find him every evening after work, resting on his porch,” shared Ronaldo Salgado, one of Araujo’s sons.

Salgado Araujo had lived in the U.S. for 35 years. Houston authorities and Abbott are ensuring investigations into the incident.
