Texas Longhorns started their season impressively by defeating Texas State 59-7, cheered on by over 100,000 enthusiastic fans. This game marked the debut of star transfer Cam Coleman, who showcased his talent with 70 yards and two touchdowns on just three receptions, including a notable 44-yard pass from quarterback Arch Manning. Coleman’s connection with Manning appeared strong, especially in the red zone.
The upcoming challenge lies in facing Ohio State at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday night. Coleman remains unfazed, confidently stating, “We’re coming. We’re coming.”
“We’re coming. We’re coming,” Coleman said of facing the Buckeyes’ defense.
Coleman, who transferred after two successful years at Auburn, was a top-rated transfer in the 2026 college football cycle. In 2024, he achieved 598 yards and eight touchdowns on 37 catches, with an average of 16.2 yards per catch, earning SEC All-Freshman honors. In the following season, he tallied 708 yards and five touchdowns on 56 catches, averaging 12.6 yards per catch.
With Manning as his quarterback, Coleman is poised to surpass these previous records. Manning completed 20 out of 27 passes, garnering 305 yards and four touchdowns, with only one interception against Texas State. Junior receiver Ryan Wingo also excelled, achieving a game-high 121 yards and one touchdown on seven receptions.
Despite this offensive energy, Ohio State presents a formidable challenge. The Buckeyes recently overwhelmed Ball State 56-3. Both teams approach Week 2 undefeated. Coleman is prepared to prove his worth against Ohio State’s skilled secondary.
