The Enhanced Games are setting the stage for a new era in sports. This event lets athletes use performance-enhancing substances under medical supervision. It challenges traditional rules, aiming to explore human optimization in athletics.
Founded by Australian entrepreneur Aron D’Souza, the Enhanced Games are often called the ‘Steroid Olympics’. The idea is to highlight existing performance enhancement in sports and propose more open regulations. Organizers criticize current anti-doping measures as outdated. They argue their event embraces scientific advancement to enhance human performance.
Unlike traditional Olympic rules, competitors in the Enhanced Games are allowed to use substances like testosterone, HGH, and EPO with regulation and monitoring. Athletes are medically supervised to ensure safety while using these substances.
Former Olympian James Magnussen is among the most transformed athletes in this competition. Known for his achievements in the 100m freestyle, Magnussen returns to compete in a full-body polyurethane suit no longer allowed in Olympic swimming.
The event’s participants include a range of high-profile athletes such as Fred Kerley, Ben Proud, and Hafthor Bjornsson. They compete in events like track and field and weightlifting, with significant financial incentives for breaking world records.
Data released from clinical trials shows widespread substance use among participants. Approximately 91% used testosterone, 79% used HGH, and others used metabolic modulators and anabolic steroids. These figures suggest competitors possess extraordinary physical capabilities.
The Enhanced Games take place in Las Vegas, offering a glimpse of what sports might be like if traditional doping restrictions are lifted. It presents a radical alternative aiming to revolutionize the competitive sports landscape.
