During a recent trip to the supermarket, navigating the self-checkout turned out to be more complicated than expected. The process, intended to simplify and speed up shopping, ended up being confusing. Numerous prompts appeared on the screen.
The machine asked me repeatedly to interact with the keypad. It inquired whether the total amount displayed was correct. It further queried if I wished to make a donation to charity. Additionally, I had to indicate how many bags I used. Another prompt required me to specify if my card was a credit or debit. Lastly, it prompted me to enter my personal identification number (PIN).
These repetitive questions and interactions made the self-checkout feel cumbersome rather than efficient. Many shoppers find this experience frustrating, contrary to the initial promise of an easier and faster checkout process.
