Tom Brady, a prominent NFL quarterback, spent two decades with the New England Patriots before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2020. Despite being the 199th pick in the draft, he now holds a record with seven Super Bowl titles.
Born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California, Brady grew up with his parents, Galynn and Tom Brady Sr. He attended Junipero Serra High School, where he excelled in baseball and football. Though he entered the MLB draft in 1995 and was selected by the Montreal Expos, Brady chose to pursue football at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, he played as a junior and became a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2000.
Initially, Brady was fourth in line behind quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz, and Michael Bishop during the 2000 season. In 2001, he moved up as the second-string quarterback to Bledsoe. A pivotal moment came during a September 2001 game against the New York Jets when Bledsoe was injured. Brady took the field and soon became the Patriots’ starting quarterback.
In 2002, Brady led the Patriots to a Super Bowl victory against the St. Louis Rams. They won again in 2004 against the Carolina Panthers. Brady secured additional Super Bowl victories in 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019. His first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 culminated in another Super Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brady’s career faced challenges, including a four-game suspension in 2015 for allegedly deflating footballs during an AFC Championship game. Despite appeals, the suspension remained, and he missed the first four games of the 2016 season.
Brady’s decision to join the Buccaneers in March 2020 surprised many. Nonetheless, he proved his prowess by securing a Super Bowl victory in his first year with the team. As of now, Brady holds the record for the most Super Bowl victories and appearances, with ten to his name.
Beyond football, Brady launched his brand, TB12, in 2013. In May 2022, it was announced that he would join Fox Sports as a lead analyst after his playing career.
Brady was married to model Gisele Bündchen for 13 years until they announced their divorce in October 2022 via Instagram. They have two children, Benjamin Rein, born in 2009, and Vivian Lake, born in 2012. Brady also shares a son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, born in August 2007, with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
