According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Curry succumbed to coronary artery disease on August 25. His history of stroke and kidney cancer were also contributing factors. Despite these health issues, Curry did not undergo surgery for them. This information came to light a week following his death, confirmed by Jimmy Franco, his publisher at Grand Central Publishing.
The Los Angeles Police Department informed Fox News Digital that officers responded to a death investigation on Tuesday night, confirming the identity of the deceased male in his 80s. There were no signs of foul play involved in his death.
Curry’s career journey began with his starring role as Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show.’ Originally a 1973 London stage production, Curry took the role to Broadway and the silver screen. The film, featuring Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meat Loaf, gained fame for its midnight screenings and audience participation.
Aside from ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise in the 1990 miniseries ‘It’ remains memorable. He also played roles in ‘Clue,’ ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,’ and ‘The Three Musketeers.’
Throughout his career, Curry earned prestigious nominations, including three Tony Award nods for ‘My Favorite Year,’ ‘Amadeus,’ and ‘Spamalot.’ He won a Daytime Emmy Award and received a Primetime Emmy nomination. Even after a stroke in 2012, which confined him to a wheelchair, Curry continued to engage in voice acting.
In 2024, he returned to live-action film with ‘Stream,’ demonstrating his resilience and passion for acting. Tim Curry’s wide-ranging achievements in theater, film, and television leave an enduring legacy.
