The executive order establishes guidelines for the federal government to evaluate national security risks associated with advanced AI systems. Developers have the option to participate voluntarily. The order underlines AI’s potential to strengthen the nation, while recognizing the security considerations that necessitate coordinated action among government agencies.

The current framework allows a 30-day review period for AI systems, a shorter time frame than expected by some industry observers.
