Trump’s Jokes and Jabs at WHCA Dinner

President Donald Trump took the spotlight at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, using the occasion to deliver sharp remarks aimed at public figures. He targeted Robert F. Kennedy Jr., late-night TV hosts, and Rep. Adam Schiff from California. Fox News’ Christina Coleman covered the event, noting Trump’s blend of humor and critique during the dinner.

A noteworthy reaction came from a transgender influencer after Trump made a viral comparison between the influencer and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins at the dinner. Dylan Mulvaney responded in a TikTok post, saying, ‘Maybe being publicly mocked and criticized by this administration is actually like the greatest compliment of all.’ Mulvaney, a known social media presence, had maintained a lower profile due to an earlier controversy with a beer company’s advertising campaign that resulted in significant stock losses.

Trump had joked, ‘I thought Kaitlan Collins had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,’ referencing the failed marketing partnership. Mulvaney’s involvement with Bud Light led to a boycott and a loss exceeding $27 billion for Anheuser-Busch.

Mulvaney continued their response by quoting artist Shea Diamond, saying, ‘I am America.’ Meanwhile, Trump involved Kaitlan Collins in his routine, critiquing her demeanor. He commented on her award for excellence in news coverage, which he dismissed as fake.

Collins, who had reported on a significant meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, later referenced Eleanor Roosevelt in an Instagram post: ‘No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.’

CNN’s public relations defended their journalist, stating, ‘We stand by our journalists and the integrity and fair-mindedness with which the CNN team reports the news.’ The network emphasized their journalistic rights as protected by the U.S. Constitution.
